He's staying: Ángel Guillermo Hoyos will remain Inter Miami's head coach for the entire 2026 season

2-Minute Read

The management of the “Garzas” decided to keep the Argentine coach on, following the team’s strong results under him

While Lionel Messi is focused on the World Cup with Argentina, it has been reported that Argentine head coach Ángel Guillermo Hoyos will remain with Inter Miami, as he has the support of the club’s management—a fact he was informed of a couple of weeks ago.

It’s worth noting that Hoyos has been coaching the club since April, following Javier Mascherano’s unexpected resignation, and in that role he has recorded six wins, one draw, and one loss, with 26 goals scored and 19 points out of a possible 24. This marks the best start by a coach in Inter Miami’s history since the club made its MLS debut in 2020. Thanks to these results, Inter is in second place in the Eastern Conference, two points behind Nashville SC, with 31 points in 15 games played.

With an extensive career in Argentine soccer as a player, he spent time at FC Barcelona’s La Masía as head coach, mentoring a young Lionel Messi in 2003. In addition, before taking over as interim head coach of Inter Miami, Hoyos was the club’s sporting director.
