The U.S. league will take advantage of its hiatus due to the World Cup until its return on July 16
Major League Soccer (MLS) isn't far behind and won't be left out of the World Cup fever, so it will be organizing "Soccer Celebrations" events for all fans, which will include promotions, interactive experiences, and live match broadcasts.
Meanwhile, MLS has partnered with FOX to provide localized coverage to communities across the United States. “The World Cup is a global celebration of our sport, and our 30 clubs will celebrate the passion and excitement of this beautiful game. In partnership with FIFA and FOX, we’re turning that energy into a festival in MLS cities, inviting all fans to experience the excitement with others and connect firsthand with their local club,” said Camilo Durana, MLS Chief Business Officer.
Similarly, Whit Haskel, senior vice president of Brand Marketing at FOX Sports, said that this partnership is “a natural extension of our commitment to bringing the excitement of the tournament to fans around the world.”
MLS clubs will therefore have venues that can serve as their home stadiums—such as the Houston Dynamo’s Shell Energy Stadium—as well as dedicated World Cup areas, such as the NY/NJ World Cup 26 Fan Zones in the metropolitan area for the New York Red Bulls and New York City FC.
It should be noted that May 23 and 24 will mark Matchday 15 of the MLS, which will be the last before the break for the World Cup. After that, the season will resume on July 16 and 17, when the final week of the tournament will be played.
